Specifications for Silver plating 316 threads?
I need a specification to silver plate a thread on a 316 stainless steel bolt. My customer has declined def-stan 03-9 and BS3382 already.
Any ideas

Hi, Adam. I don't understand the problem. Anyone can write a specification; auto companies still do, appliance makers used to. If your customer knows what he wants he can simply say "Silver plate per BS3382 except a). Thickness to be blah-blah; b.) Sample size to be blah-blah; c). Special exception: blah-blah".

We've plated thousands of aircraft spark plug shells made from stainless with silver plating on the threads to prevent high temperature galling per
AMS2410. It's specific to silver plating on stainless steel suitable for high temperature application. If your's is not a high temperature application, you can choose an alternative post treat bake that's suitable for your application. Good luck
