Matte Finishing Hard Chromed Chill Rolls

adv.
u.s chrome

Q. Is there conversion table available for Matte Finish value Ra 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 of Hard Chrome Steel Roller to UK & US Grit size as well as Screen values 100, 150, 200, 300, ..., 1200 lines/inch?

We require making a Matte Finish Chill Roll which would be Hard Chromed. The customer gave us samples of Matte Finish PE Coated Paper. The samples were sent to the supplier measure & check its Matte finish value, which reads Ra 50 -- 69.

The supplier gave us Matte Roughness Values for Chill Roll ranging from Ra 0.5 - 1.0 -1.5 - 2.0 - 2.5 to choose or opt from this range. This is very wide range. The supplier/ chill roll maker is unable to suggest the required Ra value of Matte Finish of Chill Roll to match or correlate the reference sample.

Kindly advise

Best regards

A. A piece of coated paper is not what your customer wants. You must discuss the subject with him and reach an agreement to use an acceptable surface as reference. He is buying chromed rolls. A blasted and chromed piece of steel plate of the same hardness would be an excellent portable sample.
