Alkaline Non - Cyanide Zinc Plating

May 9, 2009

Hello,

I have three questions to Plating experts on Zinc Plating.

1. What is reference standards for Alkaline Non - Cyanide Zinc Plating process? (DIN /ASTM / ISO)

2. Is there any test methods / specification / standards available to check and evaluate the Micro structure of the Zinc plating?

3. How do we check Hardness & Adhesive strength of the Zinc Plating? What is the reference standard?

Hi Saravanan

For your question no.3: There is no hardness involved during Zinc plating hence, you need not worry to check it. Adhesive strength, you can heat the plated part to 250 degrees and followed by immediate quenching in water will give idea about adhesive property of Zinc plating by means of observing blisters on the part.
