Removing Aluminium Deposition From Parts with base material: Aluminium

I am an undergraduate. Recently I am doing a research on Removing Aluminium Deposition from Parts with Base Material: Aluminium. I was wondering is there any chemical that can be used to remove the aluminium deposition from parts with aluminium base materials.

Hi, Lim. I don't know how the stripping chemical could distinguish between aluminum that you want it to dissolve versus aluminum that you don't want it to dissolve. But perhaps you could anodize the coated aluminum and then strip the anodized finish? This may not be easy, but because anodizing is an electrically insulative coating, it does tend to build a uniform thickness whereas getting a stripper to dissolve a uniform thickness is much more difficult.

Not an easy task to research. A major concern is the alloy of the aluminum and the aluminum coating which I assume is thermal deposited. Pure aluminum will not dissolve in nitric acid where 2024 will slowly dissolve.
