Teflon coating thickness




What is the maxiimum thickness I can apply teflon to Aluminum 6061-T6. I need .005 of and inch.

Hi, Jim. This will go faster if you describe the application. I'm sure the answer would be very different for screws vs. pots vs. coil coating.

It is not usual, but it's possible to apply 5 mils of Teflon* coating onto aluminium. There is a new Teflon* coating called Ruby Red (PFA Polymer) able to coat up to 20 mils.
Contact your nearest Teflon* LIA aplicator for more details.

(*) Teflon* is a brand name from DuPont.
