Substitute for cyanide in cleaning solution

June 24, 2008

we need to remove the oxide layer formed on the copper surface by the high temperatures . Now we use a solution of acetic acid [on eBay or Amazon] and boric acid, but this solution doesn't remove all impurities.
Before this solution we worked with a solution of Cyanide with better results, in addition this solution removes small residues of vitreous enamel. When the plant was transferred it was necessary to change this process.

Do you know other solution with similar properties of the cyanide?

Hi, Oswalso. Nitric acid is certainly not a direct substitute for cyanide, but it is used for removing scale from copper; I doubt that it will remove vitreous enamel.
