Looking for details about CED painting

June 24, 2008

We are interested in knowing the difference between normal zinc painting and CED painting
what will be the cost difference between the two per square meter area if applied on sheet metal parts like cabin parts, load body etc on commercial vehicles
also what will be cost of puttingup CED plant-An approximate figure will do

Hi, ks. I'm not sure that "normal zinc painting" is a term which will be agreed upon and against which we can compare CED :-)

But in CED painting the ware is immersed is a bath which is sort of like an electroplating process because the electricity converts dissolved ions into "paint" on the surface of the parts. A big advantage is that the coating is electrically insulative; so, as the easy-to-cover areas get covered, the electricity is diverted to the crannies and you get full coverage that most other coating processes don't offer.

It is not terribly complex, but because the parts must be immersed in dip baths, the cost is highly proportional to the size of the parts and the production rate.

You cannot compare apples to oranges. If I am allowed to exaggerate all you need for zinc rich primer is a paint brush. For CED coating you will require a very large set up. And this is justified by the performance of the coating. On sheet metal CED coating gives a salt spray test performance of 1000 hours. The cost of the plant will vary from country to country.

You can get in touch with us for a specific quote for your requirement. Each system is custom designed for the customer. And we will also provide you with a tentative cost per square meter based on the design of your equipment.

Putting figures in a public column may not be a good idea. Hope this will help.
