How to achieve diecast-like finish on machined aluminum?

June 17, 2008

I am trying to duplicate a die cast like surface finish on a machined aluminum part.
It is an after market service part that needs to appear exactly like the production die cast part.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hmmmmm. If you want to match the exact appearance, you may have to go to a 2 step mass finishing system. First step would be a wet process using coarse plastic ziconia composition media followed bya dry abrasive organic media.
