-----Galvanic corrosion: aluminium fastened with galvanized steel bolts
We are assembling a multi plate culvert, made from aluminium, using aluminum bolts. However, the bolts are not able to reach the correct torque without shearing. Therefore, the supplier is suggesting galvanised steel bolts instead of the aluminium ones.
What is the danger of aluminium corrosion between the 2 metals?

Hi, Liam. Whenever two different metals touch you have the potential for galvanic corrosion. It may not be too severe in this instance, but I think it would be worth your while to look for aluminized bolts. These are steel bolts similar to galvanized bolts except that they are hot dipped into molten aluminum instead of molten zinc. Good luck.
