Looking for Copper clear coat that's heat resistant

I've always loved the multi-color of my copper pots after use and have taken on a project to recreate that look on my kitchen backsplash. I have covered ceramic tiles with copper sheeting and heated each on a flame, they're beautiful. Question, what type of clear coating can I use that's heat resistant and will protect the color effect?

I believe that the biggest problem you will encounter is that some of these "colors" are not actual tints, but diffraction patterns (similar to the rainbow effect of a drop of oil on water). Put a sheet of glass over that drop of oil and the color disappears.
