Seeking advice on reagent to etch 17-4 stainless steel

I am David Jones, Mechanical Engineer for a company which reverse engineers and designs various mechanical equipment. I am seeking information regarding chemical used for etching stainless steel 17-4. I would like to use Viella's Reagent, however I do not have any Glycerol or picric acid, and would like to stay away from picric. I would like to know if anyone can assist me with possibly finding another chemical composition that may work and allow me to optically analyze grain structures of my sample.

Thanks,

David Jones

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
