-----Molykote after nitriding
2007
Hi all,
I would like to apply a molykote lubricant on a nitrited 15-5 PH stainless steel. The aim of this treatment is the reduction of the friction coefficient of the part. I have some doubts about the surface preparation before application of the lubricants. Is it suggested to perform a treatment (i.e. sandblasting) to improve the adhesion of the lubricating film? My fear is that surface preparation could increase the coefficient of friction too.
Anyone can suggest me how to proceed?
Thanks,

Hi
It is important to know which coating product of Molykote you are choosing and then look into the recommended application procedure:
Anti-Friction Coatings (formerly known as bonded coatings) are paint-like products. They contain, instead of a colouring pigment, submicron-sized particles of solid lubricants dispersed through carefully selected resin blends and solvents.
I suggest you to go to the Molykote website and download the product selection guide for anti-friction coatings.

We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
