Starting a small galvanizing plant

Wondering what an estimate for starting a small sized galvanizing plant would cost? Would mostly be dipping beams, hand railing, ladder cages, and other smaller items. Also wondering what EPA guidelines would have to be followed and where exactly you could find them for our area and the United States.

Hello, Andrew. I don't think you are going to be able to get realistic cost estimates in a public forum; but you can retain a galvanizing consultant who can assist you. And you can at least find some introductory info at galvanizeit.org.

Hi Andrew,

Search for this book: "Hot-Dip Galvanizing: A Guide to Process Selection and Galvanizing Practice" on eBay , Amazon, or AbeBooks [affil links] by M.J. Hornsby.

It gives you a description of the process, equipment, and presents a discounted cashflow.

I agree with the first reply. A galvanizing consultant would be your best bet. It's best to invest the funds now to work with someone. Doing so can help you prevent lots of costly mistakes and may even prove that the location you were thinking about may not be feasible. Good Luck.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
