Longitudinal polishing ID's in carbide

How do you polish serrations in the ID of a carbide die? We're quoting several items with splines in the ID, or forms, which have to be polished with centerline. This is similar to the extrude hone process.

Very hard if not impossible if it was produced by EDM and is really rough. Maybe diamond tools on a high speed CNC machine. It would be easier if you could produce the carbide part net shape by sintering in a polished mold. Very much like carbide inserts. Obviously the finish depends on the powder mesh size and sintering parameters.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
