Black oxide for 480 hours NSS

we are quoting a company who manufacture armoured vehicles. they require their fasteners to have a matt black finish providing 480 hrs min salt spray protection. we have quoted for delta black but they seem to think that black oxide will provide the same all weather protection at a lower cost. we do not agree - can anyone confirm/deny our thoughts?

No chance. Have a lab salt spray test them to failure. If they meet 10 percent of the requirement it will be a surprise. A black alloy zinc plating may do it; zinc iron plating is probably the most direct route to success.
