Hard chrome plating on aluminum

Does anyone know if hard chrome plating can be directly done on aluminum? I understand that acidic solutions attack the material and that electroless nickel is a better alternative?

Can anyone clarify

Hi Mohammed. Guffie says it's very rare but can be done depending upon the aluminum alloy .

I'm not sure the grounds upon which we should or shouldn't say that electroless nickel is a better alternative, but it's probably more common.
