Compatibility of Turco with Titanium Ti Al6 V4

Q. I'm looking for data with respect to the compatibility, e.g., stress corrosion cracking, of Titanium Alloy Ti Al6 V4 with TURCO as cleaning agent.

A. Turco had a wide range of products for cleaning. Which one are you referring to? Turco can tell you which ones are accepted by industry for use on 6-4 Ti. All of the major OEM's have a listing of acceptable products for a given part and a given process. Why reinvent the wheel. Use an authorized one.

Q. The TURCO we use is the TURCO 4215 NC.

Can't remove residue and rust on Inconel pipes

Q. Residue and rust left on welds in Inconel pipes after cleaning in ultrasonic system with Turco 4215 powder. any help please

A. If you are using ultrasonics, I assume that these are relatively small parts.
Being retired, I have not used Turco products in a long time and do not remember their number system.
If this is a caustic, it needs to be strong and hot to remove rust. It also needs to be formulated for rust removal AND for ultrasonics. This said, it does not rinse easily, especially in tubes or passageways.
Acid rust removers tend to rinse easier, but still are going to need a flow thru system to get the "residues" out.
In short, you need the correct material and excellent rinsing.

Q. No the problems are in a 90-mill line

A. Hi Colin. I'm not sure what you mean by a 90-mill line, but my understanding is that Turco 4215 is an alkaline cleaner which should remove oil, grease, and general soils but will not remove rust. I think you'll need either an acid dip or an alkaline de-ruster for that. Letter 54607, "Chemical passivation method for Inconel alloy" offers two possible suggestions, nitric-hydrofluoric acid or citric acid passivation.
