Question of alloy, rolled zinc sheet metal

Q. I have received a quote from a good customer with a specification for 16 gauge "Zinc" sheet metal.
My question is, are there many different alloys?
They do not specify alloy or finish!
Please help.

A. No, there are not many zinc alloys used in rolled sheet applications. ASTM B69 is the standard that covers this type of product. Ney Metals and Umicore are two possible suppliers.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
