What is the hypothesis of why a penny, nail and aluminum foil rusts?

I need to know the hypothesis on how and why a penny, nail, and aluminum can rust. I am 10 years old. I am in the fourth grade.

First, it has to be iron to rust. The others corrode. Rust is a special corrosion product. At 10 years old, the teacher should offer some guidance or direction for the hypothesis, because as stated, there can not be a hypothesis. You can show the teacher this, and I am a new teacher and a retired chemist.
Now, search this site for previous letters on "Rust" and then google rust and then corrosion to get more back ground information.
