Anode baskets plating copper and nickel

I am plating steel strip with nickel, using titanium anode baskets and low sulfur nickel ball anodes or s pellets,
I would like to plate copper from a copper sulphate [on eBay or Amazon]solution the copper sulphate would be made up off line. I would like to know if I could use the titanium anode baskets loaded with nickel pellets as a insoluble anode for plating copper from a copper sulphate solution

The simple answer is no. If you use titanium baskets that contain nickel pellets, the anodic reaction will be one of nickel dissolution, resulting in nickel going into the copper sulphate solution and causing all sorts of problems. Another problem will be that copper will put an immersion deposit onto the nickel pellets, with a corresponding chemical dissolution of nickel. I see no sense in cutting costs by a few pennies when a much higher value product could be at stake. Remember that when you are plating products, it is almost at the greatest value in terms of production costs, so why jeopardise it?

Thomas,
You would not want to use Ni S rounds in acid copper. If you want an insoluble anode, Ti clad anode mesh of different varieties is available from any reputable anode supplier.

NO ! Nickel by immersion and/or anodic will dissolve in the free sulfuric acid of the copper sulphate solution. You must use phosphorized copper anodes in the titanium baskets and with bags.
