The responsibilities would be to complete the plant's library of metal finishing books, make sure the plant is subscribed to the relevant periodicals, join the educational societies and trade groups serving the industry, take initial training courses and periodic refresher courses in the subject, stay in communication with your peers around the world, attend exhibitions and conferences to keep on top of changes, and use this knowledge to design proper metal finishing treatment systems, keep them fully functional, and continuously improve them -- with the ends in mind of improving the company's profits, maximizing employee safety, practicing good environmental stewardship, helping the community, and advancing the art.
