-----Nickel plating Vs EN plating
2007
We have a requirement of hot crimping (Approx. 900°C)operation after plating. Presently we are doing Nickel plating and we have peel of after crimping. My question is can we replace it by EN plating. What is the maximum temperature that EN plating can with stand.
One more question is, A part of steel component is with Nickel wire of 1.5 X 5 mm. Presently we have problem of Nickel adhesion on Nickel wire.
Will EN plating will help for both above problems.
Electroplating - India
EN can be a wonderful finish and is better than electrolytic nickel in some ways. But I don't think adhesion is better, and I'm confident that ductility and temperature resistance are worse. Sulfamate nickel plating with proper attention to details like cleanliness and freedom from passivation is probably your best answer.

What is your base metal? Ted is right, while EN provides a more uniform deposit, which is its primary positive vs. sulfamate, it will not hold up as well in your test. Pay attention to the pre treatment of the parts, and good luck

Dear Mr Nagendra;
Your description of the part sounds like a spark plug to me. My answer is no to ENP, you will be dealing with much higher temperatures in ENP process leading to more passivity problems on your nickel portion of the plug.
