Painting over plastic chrome to flat black

I want to change the front appearance of my pickup grille. It is made of plastic but looks like chrome. I want to paint it flat black but normal paint will chip off from high speed bug impacts. What type of paint should I use?

Chrome cannot be reliably painted; you would need to strip it first, which is a big job. Does a different model of the same truck come with a grill that isn't chromed? It would be better to repaint a painted grill.
