Replace electroless ni coating with hard chrome plating

2007

Dear sir

We want to replace hard chrome plating on aluminium cylinders with coating electroless Nickel on aluminium; what's your idea about it?
We can heat treatment it and hardness is near to 1000 Hv.

Hi, Abbas. Certainly many acres of surface area have been electroless plated in the last several decades. So it is a widely proven finish, not an experimental one, and probably more corrosion resistant than chrome plating. But whether it is a good replacement for hard chrome in your particular application depends on the specifics of your particular application, i.e., what properties you require like lubricity, oil retention, etc.

When you say cylinders, do you mean internal combustion engine cylinders, or air cylinders, or cylindrical blocks of metal in some other application? Please try to describe what you feel you need the coating to do. Thanks.
