Q. I build and design some wrought iron for home and gardens and am thinking about putting some of my works in chrome which I know nothing about and nearest chrome shop is 100 miles away so I would like to know what I need to perform this operation in house?

A. Hi Lyle. It isn’t clear from your question whether you looked over our FAQ on chrome plating as suggested or just blew me off. But there is a good reason there are no chrome plating shops in a hundred miles :-)
Anything is possible, but nickel-chrome plating uses very highly concentrated (28-54 oz/gal) chromic acid — the “hexavalent chrome” that made Erin Brockovich a household word. It is a major deal to go into the chrome plating business. You might want to consider “chrome look paint” instead of chrome plating. Good luck.
