Bathroom fixtures

The chrome on my bathroom fixtures looks as if the chrome is peeling off or corroding. Cleaning chemicals could be the cause, but I need to know if there is any way to make them look better?

As a very temporary measure, waxing can help a bit. But when chrome plating is failing, it's already too late. At the very first sign of corrosion, the chrome plating is already dead.
