Black finish for stainless steel




Hi I have 300 stainless steel bolts washers and rings that need to be finished black or coloured anything other than stainless steel colour I can colour steel ok but have never tried stainless it needs to be as rust preventative as possible as they will be outside at times does anyone know a cost affective and safe way of doing this sort of quantity?

A black oxide for stainless steel gives a dark gray non permanent coating.
If it is important, see if you can find a professional shop to have them black chrome plated.

Oil your objects very sparingly ,then heat them to 300-400C(with hot air gun).Any edible oil or fat can be used ( boiled linseed oil ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] is best).Hope it helps and good luck!
