Copper Electroplated on Silicon Nitrides -- Viable? What is the story?

2007

Dear Readers,

I am just keen to know whether copper can be directly plated on that material, though I am working in a PCB-related industry. What are the problems and limitations of the process?

Best regards,

Javier Yip
plating machine manufacturer - Hong Kong S.A.R., China

As has been said in response to other inquiries, Javier, any substrate can be plated one way or the other. When you say "directly plated" though, what steps do you exclude? The use of any other metal? A metallic layer deposited by PVD?

Please explain what you are trying to accomplish and why, instead of expressing your question in guarded fashion, and someone may be able to help. Thanks.
