Stripping silver plating from Inconel 718 studs

I have a need to remove silver plating from some threaded studs made of Inconel 718 so I can perform some metallurgical testing on the surfaces. I then plan to re-plate the studs. What can I strip the plating with that will not damage the base metal? How would it be applied?
