Brinell Hardness Test (HB)
Q. What is the HB for the cadmium plated (Cd10) the material no. is (1.7734.4) and protected by (Cd10)......?

A. DIN alloy steel 1.7734.4 (1.7734, air-cooled condition) has a yield strength of 550 MPa and a tensile strength of 700 MPa (101.5 ksi). This tensile strength equates to a Brinell hardness 215 (from
ASTM A370, Table 3).
The cadmium plating is presumably softer. To measure its hardness, a sample can be cut, mounted and polished with plating perpendicular to the polished surface (see ASTM E3 for metallographic preparation). Then, the plating's microhardness can be measured using a Knoop or Vickers indenter (see ASTM E384).
