Hexavalent Chromium prohibition

I'm Holly Raczon, a quality supervisor for automotive supply chain.I believe the use of hexavalent chromium is going to become illegal. I'd like to know when the deadline is to convert to Trivalent from a government standpoint. I heard April 2007

The use of hexavalent chromium is not going to become illegal. There are two common uses for hexavalent chromium in electroplating. One is for chromium plating. The other is for chromate conversion coatings after zinc or cadmium plating, etc. European ELV, RoHS, etc. are prohibiting the use of hexavalent chromium where hexavalent chromium is found on the part. Plated chromium is not hexavalent even though it may come from a hexavalent solution. Trivalent replacements are being used for zinc chromates.
