Thickness vs. Time for Barrel Plating System

2006

Please, there is a chart with thickness distribution in barrel plating system?
Where can I find something about it ?
Ex: If I have a specification of 2 to 4 microns of Acid Tin How will be the distribution graphic in general process?

Martins, Jorge
plating company - São Paulo, Brazil

Jorge,
There are factors that determine plating thickness in barrel plating. Barrel mesh size, barrel speed, configuration of the part, current density, barrel to anode distance, the type of anodes being used, metal concentration in the bath, temp, bath ph, etc. A specialty chemical supplier (electroplating solutions) can probably give you ballpark figures based on the plating solution they supply. You will find differences in bath efficiency from supplier to supplier. The best way is to do pilot testing yourself. Good Luck!
