Hi Gerhart
Um... coating the roller? Nah. Too difficult and expensive.
What about getting some TFE rod of the same size and diameter of your roller? Yes, it's available ! Go to a plastics supplier (rather than a fabricator) and if they don't know, ask them to give you names of
'others'. In our neck of the woods it's Cadillac Plastics.
There are some hollow shapes, i.e., tubing/piping, but I'd opt for the solid rod.

Good answer Freeman - a bit of simple lateral thought goes a long way!

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
