What will E-coat cover
I have some metals that are broke in a press brake and welded. The company that did this for us also had them E-coated but the coating looks dull and shows every little scratch and/or ding in the metal. It also looks as though the coating won't stick to the welds.
My question is can the E-coating process cover these things or should I look at other painting methods?

With a decent paint and good cleaning/pretreatment, the paint should be able to achieve good adhesion on the welds. As for the scratches/dings, this could be due to a very low paint thickness. Appearance (dullness) can be affected by paint formulation and how it's applied/cured.
Done properly, e-coat can look good and perform well. You might want to look at another supplier instead of another technology.
