PEARLBRITE SATIN PROBLEM

(2000)

We are job electroplaters in Bombay,India and facing some problems with our LPW satin nickel plating process.

Our problem is we experience BLACK SPOTS satin along with the regular satin finish and this very prominent on the lower part of the plated job. This problem occurs due to non-removal of decomposed K-6 which co-deposits and is deposited cause it did not get removed during the filtration prior to the day's plating. Now here we would like to know all the care which needs to be taken for successful flawless satin plating.

Please help.

Thanks and Bye,

Hi, There are two causes to the black spots:

1. Nickel sulfate concentration is less than 400 g/l.

2. The second one is what you mentioned about not filtering properly the K-6 component.

Turn to your supplier, they issued a paper with special instructions for the pearlbright nickel.
