Non-fluorescent metal surface coating, painting or other treatment
Q. I am currently working on a die casting part. we need the surface of the casted part to be non-fluorescent or low-fluorescent. we know black anodized aluminum part works fine, but now we must deal with zinc. the part will be used in bio-chemical lab therefore the surface must be resistant to organic solvent. Appreciate your help. /Henry Ren, design engineer

A. Black chrome and black nickel would work well if there is little or no rubbing on the color.
You might get a black chromate to work on a properly activated casting.
Some of the zinc alloys (iron, tin, nickel, cobalt) are a mottled black. You might possibly find one that is suitable.James Watts

A. Black Chrome can be plated over zinc dye cast. This finish may serve your purposes. The part may need to be impregnated before plating, however, to eliminate porosity.
