Problems with zinc plating coming off threads during die application

I am having problems with zinc plating on threads that is coming off when a die is screwed onto the threads. Is there any plating available that resists flaking off, or is more ductile?

Zinc plating should have good adhesion, Leo. Unless the die is sized wrong so that it is actually cutting new threads, the zinc should not come off. Although there are more ductile coatings, such as tin-zinc plating, changing to a different type of plating probably will not improve the situation, but QA at the plating shop probably will. It isn't clear to me if the threads are on bolts or nuts, or whether they are tapped into a solid block of metal such as a manifold.
