Plating onto aluminum requires a zincate immersion coating before the electroplating. There are proprietary alternatives, but zincate is the most common. As you know, the subject of electroplating fills books--in fact whole shelves or aisles of technical libraries. So we cannot explain nickel plating on aluminum briefly enough to be appropriate for an internet posting, but suggest you look into our must have booklist.
