Removing paint from an aluminum bicycle frame
I have an aluminum bicycle frame that I want to strip entirely and finish with a clear coat. I haven't much experience with painting on aluminum and even less in stripping. I assume the best (and least health threatening) method is to use a non-caustic, aluminum compatible paint stripper. What I am worried about is the thin walls of the frame being slightly damaged in the process; this would possible make the frame dangerous to ride. This is an instance where I can't afford to loose any metal and this is a do-it-yourself project. I appreciate any suggestions.

Get your paint stripper at an automotive supply store, not a home improvement store. Follow the safety directions.
You won't be able to find one that'll hurt the metal.

I keep reading everywhere that aluminum starts to corrode within minutes of being exposed to air. What would be the next step after stripping the frame as far as protecting or priming prior to painting?
