Sandblasting before tig welding

I am in the process of restoring a car tub that needs to have some TIG welding done to it. I was going to have the tub sandblasted before I had the tub repaired but I was told that sandblasting was not a good idea before TIG welding because the sandblasting process will contaminate the metal and the welding process will not go well. please any answer will be a great help.

As a blaster by trade. you will get a top notch weld after blasting no matter what form of welding your going to perform. Most of the scare conversation about not blasting comes from lack of education on the process. Think about it the cleaner it is the better the weld penetration, no rust or scale to try an weld through.
