-----Stopping corrosion of bare copper PCB traces
I am looking for a method of stopping copper corrosion on a PCB. The board is used in a very hostile environment where it sees a temperature change of >50F and relative humidity difference of 20%-80% within one operating cycle. After cleaning the oxidized area, the copper is left bare. Conformal coating isn't an option, so I am currently exploring the possibility of copper passivation. Is it possible to passivate copper with chemical means (much like stainless steel passivation with HNO3)? Also how practical/effective would copper passivation be on such a small scale?
