Allowable Discoloration

2005

I have some heat sinks made from 6061 T5 that my plater claims is discolored (bronze and dull blue) due to the material. Another plater told me it is due to the parts not being washed correctly or improper timing of the chromate and anodizing.

What discoloration is allowed per MIL-A-8625 / MIL-PRF-8625 [⇦ this spec on DLA] ?

If you provide more information about what your part/coating requirements are, and what you are actually receiving, you can get better responses.

On 6061-T5, black should appear black. If you specify any other color, you should allow for a range of acceptable shades.

Please let us know more.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
