-----Painting aluminum trim
My parents purchased vinyl coated aluminum trim, and now the coating is peeling. What should I use to re-paint?

You didn't say whether your parents bought it last month or 50 years ago, Charlotte. If it was recent, demand a warranty repair. If the manufactrurer, with their knowledge, understanding of the material properties, and access to metal pretreatment processes, couldn't get the paint to stick, you won't be able to either.
If it's routine re-painting, a paint store may recommend a bare metal primer before the topcoat with house paint.
