Permanent, protective coating for ammunition magazines?

I re-finish old magazines (the ammunition supply type, not the entertaining reading material type). Recently I have been looking for new a better ways to re-finish old magazines as more and more people tend to try it themselves and don't need my services. Basically, my question is very simple. I have a few steel and aluminum magazines that I am experimenting on. So far the most promising combination of appearance and durability has been simple High-Temp black spray paint, but even that has a tendency to show its wear even after a few uses. I am looking for some kind of clear coat to (preferably) spray-on that will prevent the paint from scraping off. However, it is important that the protective coat not be too thick or "sticky" as hands-free dropping of the magazine out of the gun's magazine well is of utmost importance. (.223 magazines, also known by 5.56mm, or the standard magazine used by United States military).

Thank you in advance,

Do a web search for aerosol cans of epoxy/molybdenum disulfide spray. It has pleasing appearance, good corrosion resistance, and is slick and long wearing.
