Brass lacquers for musical instruments

I am investigating clear, possibly tinted, finishes for use on musical instruments, especially saxophones. Normally nitrocellulose or epoxy is used but they seem to lack any inherent corrosion protection for the brass - corrossion spots occur through pin-hole breaks, etc.... Incralac ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] works much better at protecting the brass but lacks toughness/hardness required in this application. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you can't find other options how about: start out with a coat of the softer coating with the best corrosion protection and then finish with a coating of the harder more porous coating.

Try Everbrite [a finishing.com supporting advertiser] coating (probably silane based new proprietary product)! Good luck!
