Tin plating over zinc plated stud, any problem?

We are engaged in sheet metal fabrication. One requirement is to have the copper tin plated. This copper have studs in it. Assembling the studs after plating is impossible due to the parts' configuration. Currently, we are using carbon steel stud (w/o zinc plate). Is there any problem if we use zinc plated studs and then proceed to tin plating?

Never tried it, but zinc is attacked by both acid and caustics so the plating prep steps would require some other than common formulations. Might be possible. Will guess that it will take some tighter than normal plating controls to avoid problems.

Yes, it is possible to plate copper nickel tin to zinc base. We do have a couple of zinc cast parts having tin plating for soldering prupose.
