SO2 SCRUBBER

Dear Sirs,

I want to choose a scrubber for SO2 removal from a cabin crane in a copper smelting facility containing 200 ppm at the highest.
Removal efficiency desired is 1.5 ppm.
How do I determine the best airflow, the most efficienct gas flow rate, the packing media, the scrubber design (how many scrubbing stages, which stages, column diameter, height, counter-current or cross-flow, etc).
The cabin volume is about 10 m3. We have space limitations: 40x70x110 cm. Also, how do we prevent the air to become saturated with relative humidity coming from the scrubber?
I would appreciate a recommendation at the soonest,

Hi Onel,

Firstly, goest thou to a supplier of so-called packing, Tripack, Hacketten, Norton, Tellerettes, etc.etc..... they will be DELIGHTED to help you and give you a) right size of packing b) the depth of the packing c) the liquid, ie. in your case Na0H d) the gpm rate e) a mesh type eliminator f) pressure drop ...they are in the market to sell packing. OK?

Re humidity ... well, you'll always get some humidity, won't you, from a 'wet' process. Tough luck !

I take, however, an entirely different approach using sine curved eliminator blades ... these are horizontal units not the normal vertical ones for packed tower scrubbers ...OK for l2 micron capture .... but with acoalescer design to achieve 3 micron capture .... and the smaller the droplet size, the lower the humidity readings.

These are very compact ... design is around l,000 fpm versus 400 or so fpm for packed tower scrubbers, ie. much smaller. But for S02 I'd still use a caustic spray.
