Chrome table and chairs
2005
I recently traded my wood Dining Room table for a chrome; glass top table.
I have mostly antiques and wood furniture.
I was wondering if there is any way of making the shiny chrome look like a brushed silver,
or put any type of finish on the chrome to give it a diff. color.
The table is about 30+ yrs. old and is in excellent cond. When purchased 30+ yrs. ago the cost was $2300.+.
I would appreciate any help you could give me.
Sincerely,

You won't make chrome look like silver (the metal is a very different color), and you won't make a polished surface look like a brushed surface (it's a different texture). If you don't like the shiny look of the chrome, my suggestion would be to have a plating shop strip the chrome, leaving the underlying nickel exposed. This is quite an easy process, and will give you a more dull metallic look, as nickel tarnishes and it has a slightly yellow cast to it as opposed to the blue cast of chrome. Of course, no guarantee that you will like it.
