Silver nitrate: Melts at 212 centigrade, decomposes at 444 centigrade ( "CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics" [affil. link to book on Amazon] 68th Editiion).

To obtain silver chloride from silver nitrate: Dissolve silver nitrate in distilled water, add sodium chloride, silver chloride precipitates out, filter off silver chloride, wash well with hot water and there you have it.
