The structure of plating plant's foundation

2005

In our printing plant, plating area is collapsed because of leaking acid, chemical relating to the plating process (chrome plating, nickel plating, copper plating and cleaning tank...). therefore, I would like to know how can we chooese the fitted construction materials for the foundation.

I look forward to hearign yoru reply.

Hi Thanh Truc of Ho Chi Minh,

I was hoping that some plater would have answered your request... hence this late reply..... I am not nor never will be a plater, just someone in the (plastics) acid resistance field.

Yes, I've seen corrosion on plating tank floors.... but surely that's easy to remedy.

l. Use a concrete base
2. If so minded, paint with an epoxy.
3. Try to ensure that the plating tanks sit proud of, if at all possible, the floor.
4. My preference for coating the floor is to use the gut standard roofing asphalt, ie. TAR ... but that does mean that you'd have to have duckboards to walk on.

Tar or asphalt is dirt cheap. Easy to replace. Very acid resistant. Easy to apply.

Does this make sense to you? Hope so !

You might also want to consider reducing the amount of chemicals that reach the floor by hard piping drains and overflows, improving chemical handling techniques and improved housekeeping. Also clean spills as soon possible, don't let them just stay there!
